Proper aftercare helps ensure your comfort and enhances your results. Please follow the
guidelines below for the best outcome from your treatment.
Immediately After Treatment
- Do not massage or press on the treated areas unless instructed by your provider.
- Avoid applying makeup for at least 12‒24 hours to reduce infection risk.
- Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and bruising are normal and should subside within a few days.
First 24–48 Hours
- Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment; avoid lying face-down.
- Sleep with your head elevated the first night to minimize swelling.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or heat exposure, which can worsen swelling and bruising.
- Refrain from alcohol and blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) unless
medically necessary. - Apply cool compresses, not ice, directly on the skin, as needed to reduce swelling.
First Week
- Avoid facials, laser treatments, chemical peels, or dental work for at least one week.
- Protect treated areas from direct sun exposure and tanning beds until redness and swelling resolve.
- Do not massage lumps or bumps unless specifically instructed by your provider. Contact your provider if you notice persistent unevenness.
Healing Timeline
- Swelling and bruising: typically peak within 2‒3 days and resolve in 7‒10 days.
- Final result: visible in about 2 weeks once filler fully integrates.
- Follow-up: retreatment or touch-ups are usually not performed before 2‒4 weeks.
When to Call Your Provider
- Severe pain, blanching (white patches), or dusky/blue skin (possible vascular complication).
- Rapidly increasing swelling, especially with fever or chills.
- Hard lumps, persistent asymmetry, or unusual reactions.
