Proper aftercare helps ensure your comfort and enhances your results. Please follow the
guidelines below for the best outcome from your treatment.
Immediately After Treatment
- Redness, mild swelling (“goosebump” appearance), and warmth are normal and usually subside within a
few hours to a couple of days. - You may apply a cool compress or soothing aloe gel to calm the skin.
- Avoid scratching, rubbing, or picking at the treated area.
- Do not apply makeup, deodorant, or perfumed products to the treated area for 12–24 hours.
First 24–48 Hours
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds; always apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ to exposed skin.
- Refrain from hot showers, saunas, or strenuous exercise that may overheat or irritate the skin.
- Do not use exfoliating products, retinoids, glycolic acid, or harsh scrubs until the skin has calmed.
- Shaving may be resumed if the skin is not irritated, but avoid waxing, plucking, or threading between
treatments.
First Week
- Use gentle cleansers and fragrance-free moisturizers.
- Treated hairs may appear to “grow” before shedding over 1–2 weeks — this is normal.
- Do not pick, scratch, or forcibly remove shedding hairs.
- Avoid other hair removal methods (waxing, threading, depilatories) as they disrupt the follicle and
reduce treatment effectiveness.
Healing Timeline
- Redness and swelling: usually resolve within 1–3 days.
- Hair shedding: begins within 1–2 weeks after treatment.
- Multiple sessions are required; optimal results are achieved with a series of treatments spaced 8 weeks apart (depending on the area treated).
When to Call Your Provider
- If you experience blistering, severe or prolonged redness/swelling, or signs of infection (spreading
redness, warmth, pus, fever, or chills). - If you have unexpected side effects or concerns about your healing process.
