Proper aftercare helps ensure your comfort and enhances your results. Please follow the
guidelines below for the best outcome from your treatment.
Immediately After Treatment
- Do not massage or put pressure on your lips for the first 24 hours unless instructed by your provider.
- Avoid makeup on the treated area for at least 12‒24 hours to reduce infection risk.
- Mild swelling, redness, and tenderness are normal and usually resolve within a few days.
First 24–48 Hours
- Do not use ice on the lips because we do not want to freeze the gel
- Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment; avoid lying face-down.
- Sleep with your head elevated on extra pillows the first night to reduce swelling, if necessary.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, heat, saunas, or hot tubs for 24‒48 hours (these increase swelling and
bruising). - Do not drink alcohol or take blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) unless medically
necessary, as they can worsen bruising.
First Week
- Avoid dental work, vaccines, or facial treatments (e.g., facials, chemical peels, laser) for at least one
week. - Refrain from excessive sun exposure or tanning beds until swelling and redness resolve.
- Do not massage bumps, unless instructed by your provider. If you notice unevenness or persistent
nodules, contact your provider.
Healing Timeline
- Swelling and bruising: usually peak in the first 2‒3 days and resolve within 7‒10 days.
- Final results: visible in about 2 weeks, once swelling has fully subsided. Retreatment is usually not done before one month.
When to Call Your Provider
- Severe pain, blanching (white patches), or dusky/blue skin (possible vascular compromise).
- Rapidly increasing swelling, especially if accompanied by fever or chills.
- Hard lumps, persistent asymmetry, or unusual reactions.
