Aging Through The Decades

Your 30s…

A person’s thirties can often be a stressful time. Between balancing work responsibilities, family, and a social life, people can feel a lot of pressure. Stress stimulates your body to produce a hormone called cortisol, which causes our skin’s sebaceous glands to produce more sebum (oil). Too much oil production in your skin clogs pores and lead to breakouts.

Once you enter your thirties, your skin produces new skin cells and sheds dead skin cells more slowly. Also at this age, your body’s natural collagen production is declining, which leads to your skin being less firm. This is when you might really start to notice wrinkles becoming more prominent on your face. Starting Botox in your thirties might seem crazy to some people, but it is a preventative treatment. Starting early on will help prevent deep facial wrinkles from forming in the future.

Your 40s…

There is a decrease in your skin’s elasticity. You will begin to see sagging, especially around the jawline. Skin tightening treatments can help lift and firm the skin. We recommend Ulthera Skin Tightening (You can learn more about it here: https://miamibeachlaserandaesthetics.com/procedures/ulthera-skin-tightening/).

Fine lines and wrinkles you may have started to notice in your 30s will become more visible and prominent. Botox is, of course, a great treatment option, but Retinol is also something you should add to your skincare arsenal in your 40s. Retinol helps diminish the appearance of these fine lines and wrinkles by enhancing faster cell renewal.

You may notice age spots beginning to form. Age spots are more common in people over 40. It is important to stay out of the sun to prevent more age spots from developing. If you already have age spots you would like to treat, hydroquinone is a great product to add to your skin care routine, along with considering laser treatments.

Your 50s…

In your 50s, you will battle estrogen loss. Estrogen stimulates collagen and oil production. So you may notice your skin is thinner, drier, and less radiant. You will want to start using a rich moisturizer and make sure you drink plenty of water. We want to keep our skin hydrated! You will also notice fat loss in your face, which contributes to further skin sagging. Dermal filler injections in the face can help replace lost volume and stimulate collagen production. Other cosmetic treatments to consider are skin rejuvenation lasers and continued skin tightening treatments.

Aging is inevitable, but at Miami Beach Laser & Aesthetics, we can help slow down the process allowing you to look and feel your best
